Lusaka City Council (LCC) to penalise developers in Zambia for having uncertified buildings.
Lusaka City Council (LCC) is making plans to penalise developers in Zambia. This is due to finding that developers are occupying an uncertified buildings in the state capital.
According to LCC, officers will start conducting physical checks of buildings in Lusaka and slap penalties on developers found wanting. The plan is to find out individuals that are occupying uncertified buildings.
Speaking during the announcement, LCC public relations officer Lisa Ng’oma said developers were given a three-month grace period in which to regularise any illegalities. According to her, these period has now expired.
She also said the grace period was given after the local authority discovered that several developers had occupied new buildings. This was as a result of not obtaining occupation certificates from the local authority by applying and paying approved fees.
